Count the chairs, then the space behind them

Choose by how many people sit down on an ordinary night, not at a holiday dinner. Then leave about three feet behind each chair so it slides out with someone sitting in it.

A round table seats more people in less floor than a square one, and a bench tucks under the table when nobody is using it. The sets with a rack keep bottles or pans in the base.
