Room size guide

Karl Home furniture sizes, room by room

Widths, depths and heights of every kind of Karl Home piece, counted from the catalog, with the space each one wants around it. Read down the kind you are shopping for, then hold the numbers against your own wall.

Living room

Chairs are listed by the space they take on the floor. A reading chair wants a lamp and a side table within an arm, so add about 18 inches beside it.

How to measure before you order

Measure the wall first and the room second. The piece stands against a wall, and the wall is interrupted by a door frame, a vent, a radiator or a switch plate.

Then walk the delivery route with the tape: the front door, the turn at the top of the stairs, the bedroom door. Flat-packed pieces go through almost anything, but a tall cabinet still has to stand up in the room it is built in.

Last, the space in front. Pull a drawer of the dresser you already own all the way out and measure it: that depth, plus your own, is what the path in front of a new one needs.
